Recently, Toyota Motor Company recalled over 656,800 vehicles involving both Toyota and Lexus models that were produced between May 2015 and March 2016. According to Toyota, the recall was due to a defective electrical issue that did not allow airbags to inflate during a crash. Over time, the electrical circuit would lead to the front and side airbag warning lights turning on, which would prevent the bags from deploying. The failure of the airbags to deploy in a crash could result in serious injuries or even death.
In addition to this recall, Toyota recalled 2018 Toyota and 2015 Lexus models, due to the improper connection and installation of fuel pipes and hoses, which posed the risk of a fire occurring. According to the Motor Company, individuals are advised to contact their local Toyota and Lexus dealership to have their vehicle inspected for recalled parts, which will be replaced at no charge. Also, individuals may check if their Toyota or Lexus vehicle has been recalled by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Lexus or Toyota’s website.
